5/20-On Sunday, May 18th, 2003, the MRSO City League held the Michigan State Championships Meet in Midland, MI at the Roll Arena. The Wolverine Wheels had 13 skaters who brought home 4 State Championships. All of our newer skaters on this team had their "game faces"....ON and definitely gave their competitors someone to race. Several others took home second, third and fourth placements. The Wolverines are proud to have ALL of their newer teammates already racing in the MRSO league and we salute you! Congratulations to; Bradley Koziara, Brendon Koziara, Nathan Jackson, Jake Jaskolski, Kelley Braschayko, Kevin Bates, Grant Jackson, Ellisa Marsack, Barb Nowick, Lisa Symonds, John Guerra, Lee Corney and Mike Smith! YOU ARE ALL TRUE WINNERS! Pictures here.
5/16-As you may or may not know Theresa Cliff was injured this week in a training accident in Europe. Any encouraging emails to her can be sent to the Wolverine website and they will be forwarded to her. wolverinespeedteam@comcast.net
5/14-Two big events happening Sunday, May 18 in the skating world. One is the 4th stage of the World Inline Cup in Rennes, France. The other is the MRSO (Michigan Roller Skating Organization) State Championships at the Roll Arena 2909 Bay City Road. Midland , MI 48642. (517) 496-2900. The MRSO is made up of teams representing cities in Michigan. These races are for those who have not begun to compete in USARS level meets. If you can not make the race in France, then go and support the Wolverine beginners at the MRSO Championships. Doors open at 9:00 and racing starts at 10:00 AM.
4/28-For people coming up to the May 11 meet at the Great Skate in Roseville MI, there was a new traffic headache added recently. Lorraine Colasanti, (one of our fantastic Master's women skaters) has reported: I-75 will be closed on one side from about exit 20 (just past I-275 exchange) until you almost get to the city. I'm not sure which side they are closing, but it is a major project and they are routing all the traffic onto one side of I-75. They were just setting up barrels last night and it was already a mess. Otherwise, you can go I-275 North to I-94 or I-696 east. I-696 has some construction, but should be ok on a weekend morning. We will let you know if we hear of any new obstacles.
4/27-Sunday, Apr. 27 was the last Michigan (MRSO) State Meet before the May 18 State Championships. Report and pictures here.
