2003 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS    Over 320 skaters from 48 countries  competed in  Venezuela. USA Team members Theresa Cliff and Jessica Smith won 7 Gold, 3 Silver, and 1 Bronze Medals.     USA Rollersports

6/27-Wolverine Speed’s Theresa Cliff-Ryan moved up to 1st place in the 2004 World Inline Cup with a win in the Engadin/Saint Moritz  Swiss Inline Cup/WIC today. Her Kia-Vercucci teammate Nathalie Barbotin of France was 2nd and fellow Wolverine Speed member Jessica Smith was 5th. Gary Ryan's report herePhotos here.

6/20-Zurich, Switzerland. The ladies of Kia-Verducci went 1,2,3 for the 3rd World Inline Cup race in a row. The Wolverines Jessica Smith won and Theresa Cliff-Ryan
was 2nd with Nathalie Barbotin of France 3rd.  Theresa is 2nd in WIC point total and is pressuring Laura Lardani (Rollerblade) of Italy for the overall lead. A notable mention is that the International Olympic Committee made an appearance to watch the Zurich race feeding the rumors that Inline Speed Skating is being considered for the 2008 Olympics in China. 6/20-The Great Lakes Regional Championships concluded today with the JO competition. Thanks to Pat Spezia and the excellent staff of The Great Skate rink for providing the first class service and facility. Thanks also to all the officials and volunteers who made this an awesome Regionals. A special treat for the Great Skate Wolverines was a visit by the legendary Virgil Dooley and his wife, Sue. 6/19-Regional records fell at a record pace on the super-fast floor of The Great Skate rink on day 2 of the Great Lakes Regional Championships. Complete Standard Individual and Relay Placements here. 6/19-There are some changes to this weeks Practice Schedule.
6/18-Day 1 of the Great Lakes Regional Championships is complete. The Standard Individual competitions were held and many regional records were broken on the floor of The Great Skate rink. 6/16-The Wolverine’s Theresa Cliff-Ryan and Jessica Smith along with Nathalie Barbotin of France swept both World Inline Cup races last weekend in Sempachersee, Switzerland and Dijon, France. Skating for the Kia-Verducci Team their 1-2-3 finish was a first in Women’s World Cup history. Reports herePictures here.

6/1- USA Roller Sports (USARS) announced the 2004 Senior World Team and Junior World Team to represent the United States at the Federation Internationale de Roller Sports (FIRS) World Inline Speed Skating Championships from August 28 through September 11 in L’Aquila, Sulmona and Pescara, Italy. The Wolverines place three of their members on the team. Jessica Smith Senior World Class Women, Heidi Shockley Senior World Class Women, and Kelly Gunther Junior World Class Women. 5/28-The 2004 Outdoor Nationals are underway at the USA Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO. Placements for Wolverine Speed members after two days of competition are as follows. 5/2-The Wolverine’s Kelly Gunther finished 2nd today in Pro Women at the Second Annual Walt Disney World Inline Marathon. Dane Lewis was 2nd in the Men’s Pro Division. 4/30-This message to the Wolverine MRSO racers from Pam Coletta the Wolverine Speed School instructor. The MRSO State Championships will be held on Sunday, May 16th at the Roll Arena, in Midland, MI. I need to know before Friday, May 14th, if you are skating the Championships.  Please Email back me or call 586 757-9117. 4/29-The Great Lakes Pre-Regionals will be held this weekend at The Great Skate, in Roseville, MI. All relays will be held Saturday, May 1. Doors open at 3:00pm, racing starts at 4:00pm. Individual event will be on Sunday, May 2. Doors open at 5:00am, racing starts at 6:00am.
4/28-The Roswell Roller Rink in Georgia USA closed its doors on April 1, 2004. The Precision Inline Racing Team will continue training on the floor of the closed rink for a few more weeks, until it has been torn down to make room for a new office building. When that happens, the team will make arrangements to train elsewhere. skatlog.com

4/21- Christine Morrison is the first to make it out of Regionals!!! No, not speed skating regionals, she competed last Tuesday at the Regional Forensic Competition (a debate competition) and took first place for the International Academy in Story Telling. She will be competing at the State Meet in early May. Congratulations Christine!

Wolverine Team members Theresa Cliff-Ryan and Jessica Smith of the USA along with Nathalie Barbotin of France and Kuck Chae-Yi of South Korea are skating for the KIA-Verducci team, with Gary Ryan of Australia the team manager. 4/11-Annette and family send Easter greetings to the Wolverines. These pictures of their daughter Jove’ reminds me of Annette when she would wear her bunny outfit to practice.
4/7-Tonight we have the Wolverine’s Jenny Matthews as one of the romantic hopefuls on ABC TV’s The Bachelor up against the Detroit Red Wings vs. the Nashville Predators in the opening of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. There will be some channel changing going on tonight.
