3/25-NEW-Jenny Matthews of the Wolverines is one of the romantic hopefuls on ABC TV’s The Bachelor, in an all new series starting April 7 on ABC TV. Jesse Palmer, back-up quarterback for the NFL New York Giants is the Bachelor. Inline speed skating meets the NFL!
3/22-From the USA Roller Sports Annual Board of Directors Meeting, February 26-28, 2004, in Las Vegas, NV. RINGEISEN AWARD - The Elmer Ringeisen Sportsmanship Award was established to honor competitive skaters who have conducted themselves according to the highest ideals of good sportsmanship, exemplifying in an outstanding manner the USARS Code of Conduct. Approved present the Ringeisen Sportsmanship Award to the 15 World Class Senior Women who competed in the 2003 Outdoor National Speed Skating Championships in Colorado Springs. Theresa Cliff, a World Class athlete, had been injured prior to the National Qualifying Championships and would otherwise have been ineligible for the 2003 World Speed Skating Championships. Needing unanimous approval from all participants to become eligible for the trials, Theresa received total consent from participants, a rare display of sportsmanship and appreciation for a great athlete. Theresa went on to qualify for the World Championships. The names of the 15 girls shall be inscribed on the Ringeisen plaque that will be hung in the National Headquarters, with each person receiving an individual certificate commemorating this honor. They are as follows: Stephanie Brader, Channa Bradley, Kimi Butler, Kimberly Derrick, Erin DiJulio, Heather Elliot, Esty Frakes, Solange Franklin, Julie Glass, Heidi Shockley (Miller), Ricci Porter, Jilleanne Rookard, Ceilidh Sligh, Jessica Smith, Kristen St. Nicolas. 3/18-We now have team stickers for your cars, trucks, what ever and where ever you'd like to stick them! A great way to show your team pride while out and about, especially at other meets! More than just bumperstickers, our team decals are in true speed skate form, with team colors, team slogan and our website address on them! Best of all, they're WHEELY affordable! Our new team decals are only $5 for the smaller (3 x 6) and $6 for the larger (4 x 8) sticker! Look to purchase them at practices soon!

3/17-END OF YEAR RULES (as discussed at the beginning of the 2004 season): AS OF MAY 1, 2004 SUNDAY MORNING 9:00 AM PRACTICES AT THE GREAT SKATE WILL BE FOR REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITORS ONLY.
3/17-The Midland Interclub Meet is Sunday March 21, 2004 at the Roll Arena. The doors open at 8:00AM, racing starts at 9:00AM.
3/17-There is a Saturday March 20 practice at the Skatin’ Station II in Canton, MI from 9:00-11:00AM
3/17-If your not racing Midland, the Sunday Great Skate practice is 7:45AM exercises, indoor practice is 9:00-12:00PM.
3/17- The Great Skate Wolverines Meet will be at The Great Skate on May 2. All Wolverine Speed members are expected to compete.
3/16-While The Wolverines were in Georgia skating a USARS sanctioned meet, our beginning speed team, "The Great Skate Wolverine Wheels" were 10 skaters strong at the Waterford MRSO City League Meet at Rolladium in Waterford, MI on Sunday, March 14th. This team of newer Wolverine speed skaters earned a fourth placement overall, at the meet. Pictures here.
3/16-25 Wolverine Speed members competed at the St. Patrick’s Day Memorial Invitational at The Roswell Roller Rink in Roswell, GA this last weekend. Over 263 skaters representing 20 Clubs from all over the USA were in attendance and enjoyed the competition, the top notch facilities and Bob Justice calling the action. Thanks to Jim Blair and the Roswell Rink Staff for a great weekend. Results at GT Speed.
3/9- The Wolverine Speed Team will be competing at the St. Patrick’s Day Annual Speed Invitational in Roswell, GA Mar. 12-14. Wolverine Speed beginners will be competing at the MRSO Speed Meet at The Rolladium in Waterford, MI. Whoever is left has practice at The Great Skate in Roseville Mi.
2/24-The Wolverines hotel information for the Roswell, GA meet has been emailed to the team members. Special rates are only available until March 1. If you did not receive the information contact Julie or Kathy.
2/16-Speed school practice this Sunday, Feb. 22 is canceled. Coach Pam is going to the Ohio meet.
2/15-The Detroit ABC affiliate chose to preempt the World Speed Skating Championships with a NBA All-Star show. You can show your dissatisfaction by watching your cartoons on another channel.
2/9- The World Speed Skating Championships held last weekend in Hamar, Norway will be shown Sunday Feb. 15, 12:30 PM on ABC TV. It will feature the best performance by a U.S. Team ever, and the best in over 100 years of World Championship racing. Leading the way for the U.S.A. were many inline speed skaters including Chad Hedrick who won the Men’s overall in only his second year on ice!
2/4- USA Roller Sports (USARS) 2004 Outdoor National Championships will be held May 26 through June 1 at the Olympic Training Center (OTC) in Colorado Springs, Colo. This year’s competition will feature some of the best inline speed skaters in the nation, as they compete for their spot on the 2004 Federation Internationale de Roller Sports (FIRS) Speed Skating World Championships to be held in L’Aquila, Italy from September 3 through September 9, 2004. 2/3-There will be a Parents meeting at The Great Skate at 12:00 after the Sunday, Feb. 8 practice.

2/2-Congratulations to former Wolverine Speed members BJ and Jenny Steketee on the birth of their second daughter, Abigail Jane Steketee. She was born on January 31, 2004, at 10:45am, 9 lbs. 1-1/2 ounces. Pictures here.
