Drop-ins per Speed Skating Class are welcome or to register for a set time amount come into The Great Skate to fill out a registration form. Registration is open to all ages; children and adults and all abilities. (If you can stand up on skates we will have you rolling fast in no time.
Roller Skates, Roller Blades, Inline skates, Hockey Skates. If it rolls without messing up our floor you can use it. Workout clothing is suggested but if you like you can skate in your jeans and tee's. Helmets after a few weeks classes/practices are suggested too.
Speed Skating Classes for the 2007-2008 Season
Classes run all year at The Great Skate
Class will be held on Tuesday's 5:00pm - 6:30pm & Friday's 5:30pm - 7:00pm, Session following are skated for $1 on Tuesdays and $3.00 on Fridays. First Class is free. Only class members who are enrolled in the Speed Skating Class are allowed to have roller skates or roller blades on during the lesson time.
Skaters are evaluated during their training by the instructors to determine if their skills have developed enough to join the Wolverine Speed Team based out of The Great Skate in Roseville, MI and coached by Eight Time National Champion Skater and Coach Jay Ingram.
Fees can be paid for per class ($6.00), or choose the program “package” for 6 weeks and receive a team t-shirt, booklet, certificate and 6 passes to skate at The Great Skate Sunday session for free. Again, Sessions following these classes are skated for $1 on Tuesdays and $3.00 on Fridays.
Skate For The Health Of It!
Roller Skating & Roller Blading are great ways to stay healthy and have tons of fun! The whole family can learn to skate fast, in a safe, friendly, clean, environment.
Skaters should arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in and get their skates on. . Comfortable clothing, such as a T-shirt and shorts are recommended. The class will teach the basics of speed skating including track pattern, starts, cornering, straight away skating, passing technique and relays.
